Riverdale Baptist Church

"Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Luke 18:16

At RBC, we value being together as a church family. That’s why we begin each service worshipping together in songs, prayer, and offering. About half-way through the service, the children are invited to come to the front for children’s moment. The children may be introduced to the Sunday School story, be taught an important Biblical truth, or follow a series like learning the Lord’s Prayer. After a prayer with the children, children and youth are encouraged to go downstairs for age appropriate teaching, activities, and games.

0-3 mos: Moms and dads with newborns are welcome to use the upstairs nursery just behind the sanctuary. This is a great room to use when your little one gets hungry and it is also equipped with a change table. By adjusting the volume in the nursery, you’ll be able to listen to the service.

3 mos-3 yrs: After the children’s moment, please bring your young one(s) downstairs to our staffed nursery. Our trained staff will take care of your child(ren) while you return upstairs to participate in the rest of the service. If at any time a parent is needed, that parent will receive a text message to come downstairs. Otherwise, after service please come and pick up your little one(s). If you prefer to supervise your own child(ren), then we also have an unstaffed space downstairs for that purpose.

3-4 yrs: Preschoolers go downstairs after the children’s moment with the rest of the children and teaching staff. They go to their own classroom where they will sing songs, listen to Bible stories, make crafts, and play games using The Gospel Project curriculum. Snack is often provided for them. Please pick up your child after the service. To register your child for our preschool class, download a registration form here.

K-Gr 5: After the children’s moment, all children go downstairs and learn who God is through The Gospel Project curriculum. Children begin their time together with a song and Bible story. Then children divide into two groups, K-Gr 2 and Gr 3-5 and engage in age-appropriate activities and games. Once per month, children participate in activities that help them learn how to listen to the voice of God and identify God’s presence and love in their own life and in the lives of others. To register your child for a Sunday School class, download a registration form here.

Gr 6+: During our Sunday morning worship service, youth are welcome to be part of the youth Sunday School class, to serve in one of the church’s ministries, or to remain in the service. After the children’s moment, the Youth Sunday School class meets downstairs in the Youth Room. We meet each week except for the first Sunday of the month when youth are encouraged to remain in service. Our Sunday School youth class studies The Gospel Project curriculum. For more information about our youth ministries, please see our Youth page.
